According to Deputy Secretary-General of China Polyurethane Industry Association Li Jianbo introduced, in 2000, the global total of polyurethane reached 9.92 million tons, and reached 18.7 million tons in 2010.The application volume doubled. In China, the industrial boom also stimulated substantial growth in demand for polyurethane, the main impetus came from building��s energy-saving and insulation, coatings and elastomers, adhesives, automotive, and composite board, which has a huge market space. Direct PU consumption in 2010 is expected to be about 600 million tons, the whole industrial output value is more than 1200 billion yuan, and there are more than 2 million businesses.

Why polyurethane enjoy such a large market? China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association president Li Yongwu said, polyurethane material has been able to be widely used, that is all due to its unparalleled insulation properties.

It is because of the advantages of thermal insulation, polyurethane can be widely applied in the international building energy-saving. From 1960s, Germany began to use polyurethane foam for external wall insulation. In Europe and the United States, 50% of polyurethane foam is used in construction insulation field. In Japan, the application ratio of spray polyurethane foam used in interior wall insulation of high-rise apartment excesses 50%. In China, the application ratio of polyurethane foam  in construction insulation field was less than 10%, so, polyurethane has a huge space in China.
